A Clinical Observation of Congenital Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical observation was performed on 15 cases of congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, admitted to the pediatric department of Pusan Adventist Hospital during the past 2 years and 1 month fro ¢¥March 1985 to March 1987.
The results were as follows:
1) The incidence of congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis among the total admitted patients was 0.24%, 8 patients (53.3%) were first born baby and the male to female ratio was 4:1. The high incidenc. revealed in breast fed infant (66.7%).
2) The age at onset of symptom was highest between 2 to 3 weeks of age in majorities cases (.0.0%). 3) Projectile vomiting and dehydration were observed in all cases, abdominal mass was palpated ¢¥9 cases (60.0%) and gastric peristaltic wave was observed in 8 cases (53.3%).
4) Plane abdominal X-ray showed one bubble air shadow in 6 cases (40.0%) and the string sign as seen in 13 cases (86.7%) in UGI series.
5) 11 cases were surgically treated with Fredt-Ramstedt procedure and discharged without a y complications.
